The Leach Pottery is considered by many to be the birthplace of British Studio Pottery. Bernard Leach, one of the great figures of 20th century art, established the Leach Pottery in 1920 playing a pioneering role in creating an identity for artist potters across the world.

The restored Leach Pottery , reopened in 2008, serves to celebrate the life, work, influences and legacy of Bernard Leach. It includes a museum, exhibition, gallery and shop spaces which showcase work by leading regional, national and international potters.
