The new exhibition in our reception gallery features seven selected new makers and recent alumni of Plymouth College of Art, showcasing their rich and creative commitment to the material in a diverse collection of exciting new work.
One of the students is Jessica Thorn. Taking inspiration from the aesthetics and forms of William Scott’s still life paintings she has created a collection of three dimensional still life bottles. The subtle line details in Jessica’s work comes from her elusive joining technique, leaving a trace of her maker marks. These marks are highlighted through a simplified and contemporary colour palette, taken from colours produced in rust and decay.
This work shows an elegant yet bold approach to form with a lovely contemporary edge.
We’re very much looking forward to meeting all the contributors to the exhibition at the Private view on Friday January 20th and the show will continue until March 19th.
